We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Medical Billing Officer

Locations: Lagos and Redeemers Health Village, Mowe, Ogun

Description 

  • The Medical Billing Officer is responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of healthcare services by accurately billing patients and insurance companies for medical procedures and services rendered.
  • This role requires a keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a thorough understanding of medical billing codes and procedures. The Medical Billing Officer ensures that billing processes comply with relevant regulations and standards while maximizing revenue for the healthcare facility.

Responsibilities
Billing and Coding:

  • Utilize medical coding systems to accurately assign appropriate billing codes to medical procedures and services.
  • Ensure compliance with billing regulations and guidelines, including those set forth by government agencies and insurance companies.

Documentation and Record-Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate records of all billing transactions, including payments, adjustments, and refunds.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of patient financial information.

Revenue Management:

  • Monitor accounts receivable and follow-up on outstanding balances.
  • Identify Opportunities to improve billing processes and maximize revenue for the healthcare facility.

Patient Billing:

  • Generate and send out patient invoices for services provided
  • Follow-up on unpaid or reject claims and resolve any issues or discrepancies.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses and administrative staff, to ensure accurate billing and reimbursements.

Claims Processing:

  • Prepare and submit insurance claims for reimbursement in a timely manner
  • Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims and resolve any issues or discrepancies.

Training and Compliance

  • Stay Informed about changes in billing regulations, codes, and procedures
  • Provided training and guidance to other staff members on billing best practices and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, Finance or related field preferred.
  • Proven Experience in Medical billing
  • Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health records systems
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, billing codes, and insurance guidelines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping
  • Knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations.
