Ajwad Humanitarian Initiative (AHI) is a non-profitable organization based in Borno State the northeastern Nigeria and dedicated to serving humanity by addressing critical humanitarian needs in the areas of education, protection, food security and livelihoods, health, water, sanitation, hygiene, and translation.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Programme Description

  • The project involves supporting farmers in Bade Local Government Area by providing essential farming tools and training to enhance agricultural productivity.
  • The initiative aims to address climate-related risks, reduce external funding dependency, and strengthen community engagement. Through comprehensive capacity-building efforts, including training programs and knowledge transfer, the project seeks to empower the local community to sustainably manage the tools and adapt to changing agricultural conditions.
  • Additionally, the project incorporates market analysis and contingency plans to navigate potential challenges, fostering resilience and self-sufficiency within the community.

Job Summary

  • AHI seeks a skilled and experienced consultant to join our team as a trainer for Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) using the Farmers Field School (FFS) Model of CSA for a week.
  • The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge base and empathetic teaching style related to the domain, and also have advanced knowledge of techniques and tools commonly used. Additionally, an understanding of climate change and effects as it relates to these concepts.
  • Teaching experience especially with beginners is desirable. Primary duties will include instructing the participants, and communicating with department staff.

Primary Responsibilitie
The primary responsibilities will be:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver course, training materials as well as course content.
  • Design a comprehensive training curriculum aligned with CSA principles
  • Conduct interactive and participatory sessions
  • Provide a theoretical and practical support on how to manage threshing machines
  • Facilitate group discussions, practical exercises, and knowledge-sharing activities
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of Climate-Smart Agriculture practices
  • Provide technical guidance on implementing CSA within the Farmers Field School Model
  • Adjust training content based on the participants' feedback and emerging issues
  • Address questions and concerns raised by participants during the training
  • Assess the application of CSA practices post-training
  • Establish a platform for continued communication and support
  • Compile Training Reports
  • Document training outcomes, participant feedback, and key observations
  • Submit comprehensive reports to the Project Manager.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Relevant academic qualifications (e.g., Masters in Agriculture, Environmental Science)
  • 3 years’ work experience in a related field is required.
  • Prior experience with training in NGO funded projects.
  • Deep knowledge of climate change impacts on agriculture
  • Proven track record in conducting similar training programs
  • Proficient at using Microsoft office software: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and accessible manner
  • Flexible in tailoring training to diverse audience needs
  • Able to adjust content based on participant feedback
  • Skill in assessing participant progress and adapting training accordingly
