Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) is Nigeria's leading private sector think-tank dedicated to achieving sustainable economic development through private sector-led initiatives. Convener of the annual Nigerian Economic Summit (NES) since 1993, as a platform for bringing together private sector leaders and senior public sector officials to discuss and dialogue on the future of the Nigerian economy.

In 1993, a group of passionate and concerned private sector leaders representing key economic sectors conceived the Nigerian Economic Summit (NES) and sustained it as a platform for bringing together private sector leaders and senior public sector officials to discuss and dialogue on the future of the Nigerian Economy. Three years later, in 1996, the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) was established and incorporated as a non-profit, non-partisan private sector organisation with a mandate to promote and champion the reform of the Nigerian economy into an open, private sector-led globally competitive economy.

Job Description

  • Provide Strategic leadership towards the provision of technical support to the National Assembly
  • Implement the NASSBER secretariat operational framework which consist of: Legislative reform strategy, Programme management processes, day-to-day NASSBER activities, technical working groups, expert network, partnerships and continual review of NASSBER policy, procedures and processes.
  • Implement legislative and regulatory reform initiatives that ultimately improve the ease of doing business and drive sustainable economic growth and development.
  • Support with legislative components for grants on request
  • Provide support for citizen engagement, strengthening communication for impactful reform, involving both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare an internal and external stakeholder plan for effective stakeholder engagement
  • Coordinating the implementation of NASSBER programmes, projects and initiatives approved by the Governing Council.
  • Facilitating external resources mobilization and fundraising for NASSBER.
  • Developing and implementing budget and funding plan for NASSBER.
  • Generating NASSBER corporate performance reports for board and executive decision making.
  • Conducting legislative impact assessments on NASSBER bills before and after passage into law.
  • Planning and implementing the legislative stakeholder engagement strategy for NASSBER.
  • Serving as official liaison between the NESG community and the legislative arm of government.
  • Establishing, maintaining and upgrading a system for comprehensive repository of all national legislations and legislative support instruments.
  • Establishing, maintaining and upgrading a system for comprehensive database for all Senate and House of Representative Leadership of the whole and committees and heads of national legislative service (clerks and their principal officers).
  • Designing and supporting presentations of legislative briefs at forums, mini-summits, Nigerian economic summit and pre-summit events.
  • Working with the NESG grants and donor relations office to develop the legislative input component of grants proposals and fundraising briefs.
  • Establish and maintaining a working relationship between the NASSBER expert network and the National Bar Association Section on Business law.
  • Develop NASSBER legislative intelligence programme for ensuring the efficient and effective track, monitoring and reporting of all national legislative changes.
  • Other duties that may be assigned.

Requirements
Education:

  • Suitable candidate should possess a Degree in Law and a call to bar certificate

Experience:

  • At least 10 years of work in a top-tier law firm working with key sectors of the Nigerian Economy, Understanding of Nigeria’s regulatory landscape. In-depth and Knowledge of the Nigerian Legal System and Political-Economic dimensions.
