Position Summary

  • The Head of Research at Nairametrics plays a crucial role in steering the research department towards excellence in data gathering, macroeconomic analysis, and insightful publication.
  • This individual is tasked with leading the research team in conducting in-depth studies, generating macroeconomic reports, and ensuring the accuracy and relevance of data and research publications.
  • With a focus on utilizing advanced analysis tools and methodologies, the Head of Research will contribute significantly to Nairametrics' reputation as a leading source of economic and financial intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research Leadership: Lead the research team in conducting comprehensive data gathering and macroeconomic research, ensuring high standards of quality and integrity.
  • Data Analysis and Interpretation: Perform detailed analysis and interpretation of economic and statistical data to generate insights and forecasts that inform readers and stakeholders.
  • Research Publication: Oversee the publication of research reports, articles, and papers that reflect Nairametrics' expertise and insights into economic trends and patterns.
  • Editorial Oversight: Ensure that all research-based articles and reports are accurate, well-written, and adhere to the highest standards of academic and journalistic integrity.
  • Tool Proficiency: Utilize and oversee the use of analytical tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Excel for the visualization and analysis of data.
  • Team Management and Development: Manage the research team, fostering an environment of continuous learning and development. Set clear goals, provide feedback, and encourage innovation.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the strategic planning of Nairametrics by providing data-driven insights and forecasts that guide decision-making.
  • Collaboration and Partnership: Work with internal teams and external partners to enhance the scope and impact of research projects.
  • Trend Monitoring: Keep abreast of global and local economic trends, ensuring that Nairametrics' research is relevant and timely.
  • Innovation in Research: Encourage and implement innovative research methodologies and approaches to maintain the company's competitive edge.

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Statistics, or a related field is required.
  • Advanced degrees (Master's or PhD) in Economics, Statistics, or related areas are highly preferred.

Work Experience:

  • At least 10 years of post-graduate experience in economic research, data analysis, or a similar field.
  • Proven track record of publishing macroeconomic research reports and articles.
  • Extensive experience in data analysis and the use of analytical tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Excel.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with a deep understanding of economic theories and statistical methods.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) and advanced Excel functions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively.
  • Leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on developing and mentoring research staff.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and rigor in research.
