Job Title: Operations Supervisor

Location: Otto Wharf, Lagos

Description

  • As a Logistics Supervisor at Haluage Port Logistics, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the efficient movement and management of goods within the port facility.
  • You will be responsible for coordinating various logistics operations to ensure timely delivery, optimal resource utilization, and adherence to safety standards. Your primary duties and responsibilities include:

Supervision and Coordination:

  • Supervising and coordinating the activities of logistics personnel including loaders, drivers, and warehouse staff.
  • Assigning tasks and responsibilities to team members to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Collaborating with other departments such as operations, procurement, and maintenance to streamline logistics processes.

Inventory Management:

  • Overseeing the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods within the port facility.
  • Conducting regular inventory checks to maintain accurate stock levels.
  • Implementing inventory control measures to prevent loss or damage of goods.

Transportation Planning:

  • Planning and coordinating the transportation of goods within the port premises.
  • Scheduling deliveries and pickups to optimize vehicle usage and minimize downtime.
  • Ensuring compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Managing documentation related to inbound and outbound shipments, including bills of lading, manifests, and customs paperwork.
  • Generating reports on key performance indicators such as inventory levels, delivery schedules, and transportation costs.
  • Analyzing data to identify areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Enforcing safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Conducting regular safety audits and training sessions for logistics staff.

Customer Service:

  • Liaising with customers to address inquiries, resolve issues, and provide updates on shipment status.
  • Maintaining positive relationships with clients and stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identifying opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
  • Implementing best practices and innovative solutions to enhance logistics operations.
  • Participating in regular meetings and brainstorming sessions to discuss improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in logistics operations, preferably in a port environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
