We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Head of Technical

Location: Plateau
Employment Type: Full time

Responsibilities 

  • Availability of utility services (Water, Electricity, Ice Banks, Compressed air &  Steam, etc.). 
  • Machinery, Plant and Equipment performance efficiency. 
  • Support Strategic Business Units and liaise with vendors on service and maintenance of vehicles & trucks. 
  • Develop, review, and implement the department's operations reengineering to ensure that the operations are lean, effective, efficient and bring value to the organization. 
  • Oversee the day-to-day implementation of strategies and operations of the department. This can be done through supervision, coaching and feedback mechanisms. 
  • Break down the overall corporate strategy into specific and achievable tasks and assign such tasks to various roles in the department. 
  • Develop and Ensure Compliance with planned maintenance schedules. 
  • Compliance with SOPs and departmental operation processes/Procedures. 
  • Establish and execute a performance measurement system to evaluate plant and machinery's effective and efficient utilization. 
  • Train, guide and mentor technical staff in their day-to-day functions. 
  • To always have the plant's maintenance meeting weekly with all the technical officers (supervisors and other managers) on the plantʼs issues and the way forward to give their best approach to enhance effective results to achieve preventive maintenance of plants and machinery. 
  • Prepare reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly or as may be required by management) to the COO/CEO on asset acquisition, usage, maintenance or disposal as it regards technical inputs 
  • To ensure implementation of any approved company policies as regards work processes and procedures 
  • Ensure all records of plants/machinery being operated by technical staff are correctly kept. 

Academic Qualifications & Experience 

  • Minimum graduate education degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a relevant discipline. 
  • Relevant postgraduate degrees would be an added advantage. (e.g COREN, NSE, CQE & CMfgE). 
  • Management certification required. 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in hands-on mechanical/electrical engineering, preferably in an agriculture plant or food processing industry with heavy-weight equipment. 
  • Sound knowledge in electrical testing design, mechanical production technologies, electrical systems, technical management, and developing budgets. 
  • Basic safety, quality focus, process improvement and good leadership skills is highly required.
