We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: LGA Consultant (Northern Nigeria States Routine Immunization Strengthening (NNRISP) Project)

Locations: Bauchi, Borno, Kaduna, Kano, Sokoto, Yobe, and Zamfara
Employment Type: Contract

Job Description

  • The LGA Consultant will provide effective and quality on-the-job training to LGA teams to improve ward and PHC program management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide the LGA teams on the mentoring and monitoring of PHC Officers-In-Charge (OICs) and their deputies on the execution of their facility operations in compliance with set standards
  • Co-monitor PHC efficiency (with the LGA teams) based on key performance indicators
  • Monitor the job performance of the LGA teams and support planning for PHC program implementation
  • Ensure the timely collection of PHC data
  • Provide routine progress reports on PHC supervision activities to the core team, including reports on challenges, on-the-spot mitigation responses, recommendations, successes and lessons learned
  • Ensure adequate documentation and reporting of PHC performance
  • Support LGA team and PHCs to identify and resolve problems associated with PHC management
  • Co-report a monthly PHC implementation progress and performance report, including implications of results and/or recommendations for improvement
  • Provide feedback on the mentorship approach and identify improvement areas Required travel: Routine visits to the PHC facilities in the state (required to visit every PHC in their assigned LGAs at least once a month)

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Diploma, ideally Bachelor degree, preferably in the field of health or other natural sciences
  • Previous work experience in PHC system strengthening and/or other health system related projects

Other required competencies:

  • Proficient in English and Hausa languages
  • Ability to coach and mentor
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite to conduct basic analysis, interpret data, and write reports
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to identify and solve problems on the spot
  • Strong organization and planning skills
  • Capacity to work independently and function effectively within a team
  • Ability to assess, prioritize and manage a variety of activities with attention to detail
