Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare. MSF offers assistance to people based on need, irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation. MSF is seeking SURGEONS For Her Projects In Nigeria And Abroad.
Since 2007, the number of surgical procedures performed within MSF missions has risen by 8 - 10% per year. In 2013, 52% of surgical activity was traumatology (26% of which was burns), 14% obstetrics and 6% abdominal surgery.
In 2013, over 33 000 procedures were performed on some 14 500 patients. This entailed 177 surgeons leaving for the field, including 16 plastic surgeons, 30 obstetricians and 13 orthopaedists.

Job Description
- The surgeon is responsible for performing surgical procedures and delivering post-operative surgical care in line with MSF protocols.
- He/she (hereafter referred to as he) practices emergency surgery, general surgery, surgery in areas of violence and respiratory surgery.
Profile
- Diploma: Has a diploma in general Surgery, Abdominal/gastric, Orthopaedic and Traumatology, Gynaecology-Obstetrics, Reconstructive Plastic (General, Hand, Burns), Maxillo-Faciale, Urology, etc.
- Experience: 2 years after obtaining the diploma, able to perform cesarean sections
- Availability: minimum 4 weeks.
- Languages: English.
- Ready to work within multi-cultural, multi-discipline teams.
