Job Description

  • CrossBoundary Energy is recruiting a full-time Lead Engineer in Data Analytics to take charge of transforming raw data from diverse sources into clean, actionable datasets for various organizational users.
  • This individual will be pioneering the data infrastructure, establishing foundational architecture, and procedures for an expanding team.
  • They will apply software engineering best practices to design, build, and maintain data pipelines and models, working closely with data analysts and business users to deliver transparent and effective data solutions This Lead Engineer will be CBE’s first data hire and will join CBE’s Operations team, which reports to the COO.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and implement data extraction, transformation, and loading processes
  • Build and manage a centralized data repository to support business intelligence and machine learning applications
  • Utilize tools such as SQL, Python, and cloud-based data infrastructure platforms (AWS Redshift, Azure, Google Cloud) to maintain data pipelines
  • Apply data modeling principles to prepare datasets for analysis
  • Ensure high performance, availability, and quality of data systems through monitoring and optimization
  • Collaborate on data governance policies to ensure data compliance and security
  • Engage with external partners for software development and data expertise
  • Document and communicate data architecture to leadership and operational teams
  • Explore and integrate new technologies to enhance data engineering capabilities
  • Negotiate on CBE's behalf to contract external software development partners or data professionals. Manage constructive conflict where necessary in a calm, curious, and solutions-oriented manner to advance CBE's business interests
  • Train CBE teams on new, efficient ways of working to take advantage of data analytics capabilities

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience working in data engineering or data analytics
  • Skilled in building and maintaining data pipelines and data warehouses
  • Proficient in SQL and at least one programming language, preferably Python
  • Familiar with software engineering best practices and cloud-based data infrastructure
  • Strong interest in Microsoft stack technologies
  • Fluency communicating via the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Teams, Sharepoint)
