Job Description
- Do you have passion for journalism? Do you lack the platform to exhibit your skill to a large audience? Will you like to report for an upcoming online news media on a probation period of one year with moral but no financial incentives (strictly freelance which enables you to still do other jobs)?
- Acutenews is seeking for Newsperson/Reporter/Video journalist (FREELANCE) with superior reporting and investigative journalism skills to join its team.
- We're looking for someone who can develop, pursue and write original stories based on sources, documents or data to drive the most significant and impactful journalism for www.acutenews.com, and is comfortable reporting for us with moral but no financial incentive for a one year contract engagement period with small teams of colleagues. However, your commitment and skills will be rewarded when we start salaried employment after one year
- Acutenews pursues ambitious long-term project but also at this pivot time cannot afford to engage any paid staff for the time being. We are being sincere to our prospective reporters.
- Working expediently under deadline is required. Successful candidate will work closely with editors and publishers across Acutenews national and international staff, along with Acutenews legal team, photographers, video journalists, graphic artists and other reporters.
- Show us what we don't know, and impress us with ways to work smarter and better.
Qualifications
- Strong reporting and investigative journalism skills with proven track record at breaking news. Must be comfortable working as freelance without incentives.
Other qualifications:
- OND/HND/Bachelor's degree or Equivalent Experience.
- Authorization to work in your country of residence for any employer is mandatory.
- Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English.
- Outstanding communications skills, including the ability to cooperate with and work with reporters and editors remotely.
- The ability to work in multiple formats and/or as part of a team that includes editors and reporters working in multiple formats.
- The ability to adapt to a fast-changing news environment and provide support at critical times to Acutenews editors on deadline.
