We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Assistant Teacher (Playgroup)

Location: Ibadan, Oyo
Job type: Contract
Duration: 1-year renewable contract        

Duties

  • Support the children in their learning: Listen to children read, read to them, or tell them stories, supervise group activities, help children who need extra support to complete tasks and look after children who are upset or have had accidents.
  • Support the teachers in their preparation: get the classroom ready for lessons, help teachers to plan learning activities and complete records, laminating teaching materials to increase their durability under repeated use.
  • Support the teachers with display work: assist with the display work in the classroom or updating the classroom boards, assist in organizing and labelling materials and displaying students' work in a manner appropriate for their eye levels and perceptual skills.
  • Support the teachers in managing class behaviour: help the teacher to maintain order in the classroom, ensure that the students are obeying the rules and discipline unruly pupils when necessary.
  • Support the teachers through supervision: supervise students in the playground during recess or before and after school, help to keep an eye on the children during lunch, accompany and supervise students on field trips or at extracurricular events.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and attractive environment: Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of the classroom and outside environment, clear away materials, and equipment after lessons.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • NCE in related field with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience performing a similar role in a well-structured environment.
