Job Title: Finishing Manager

Job Summary

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Finishing Manager to join our dynamic construction development team.
  • The Finishing Manager will play a crucial role in the final stages of our construction projects, ensuring that all finishing work is completed to the highest standards of quality, on time, and within budget.
  • This position demands a keen eye for detail, exceptional project management skills, and a passion for delivering outstanding finished products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee project schedules, ensuring tasks related to finishing are completed on time and within budget, including monitoring and tracking material requirements to prevent overruns.
  • Resolve any construction finishing issues, maintaining high safety and quality standards.
  • Liaise with project managers for adjustments, ensuring materials are ordered in advance to meet deadlines.
  • Communicate scope of work requirements to artisans, overseeing production, quality, and implementation.
  • Provide advice on material characteristics, durability, and behavior under various conditions before purchase and usage.
  • Check technical designs and drawings to confirm they are followed accurately.
  • Manage quality control and uphold health and safety standards on site, including conducting regular site inspections.
  • Prepare and check site reports, and perform additional functions as requested by the Head of Construction or Project Manager.
  • Supervise finishing teams, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring compliance with project specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Troubleshoot finishing-related issues, offering timely and effective solutions.
  • Maintain clear communication with all stakeholders, offering regular updates on progress and addressing concerns promptly.
  • Manage the budget for finishing works, ensuring financial constraints are adhered to.
  • Ensure all finishing works comply with environmental regulations and sustainability practices.
  • Coordinate the final handover of projects, guaranteeing client satisfaction and adherence to contractual requirements.
  • Perform any other functions requested by the Head of Construction or Project Manager
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Requirements

  • HND or B.Sc in Construction, Building, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related discipline is required.
  • Relevant professional certifications in Engineering or Building are beneficial but not mandatory.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a finishing supervisor, construction, or civil engineering role, particularly with a focus on multi-storey projects.
  • Proven experience as a Finishing Manager or in a similar role within the construction industry, evidenced by a strong portfolio of successfully completed projects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of finishing materials, techniques, and standards essential for high-quality construction outcomes.

Skills:

  • Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities to foster teamwork, collaboration, and positive relationships.
  • Exceptional project management and leadership skills, demonstrated by the ability to oversee multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Skilled in AutoCAD, MS Office, and Adobe Professional, with a detailed understanding and knowledge of finishing across all construction trades. Proficiency in using construction software and project management tools is essential.
