Job Title: Waitress

Description

  • Providing excellent customer service is the primary responsibility of a waitress. This includes greeting customers, taking orders accurately and efficiently, answering questions about menu items, offering recommendations, and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout their dining experience.
  • Order Taking and Delivery: Waitresses are responsible for taking food and drink orders from customers, either in person or over the phone. They must accurately record orders, transmit them to the kitchen or bar staff, and ensure that orders are prepared correctly and delivered promptly to the customers' tables.
  • Menu Knowledge: Waitresses should have a thorough understanding of the menu, including ingredients, preparation methods, and special dietary considerations. They should be able to explain menu items to customers and make informed recommendations based on customer preferences.
  • Upselling: Waitresses may be expected to upsell additional menu items or specials to increase sales and enhance the dining experience for customers. This could involve suggesting appetizers, desserts, or beverages that complement the customers' orders.
  • Table Maintenance: Throughout the dining experience, waitresses are responsible for maintaining clean and tidy dining areas. This includes setting tables with appropriate utensils and tableware, clearing empty plates and glassware, and resetting tables for new customers.
  • Cash Handling: Waitresses may be responsible for processing payments from customers, which could involve handling cash, credit cards, or electronic payment methods. They must accurately calculate bills, process transactions, and provide change or receipts as needed.
  • Collaboration with Kitchen Staff: Waitresses must work closely with kitchen staff to ensure that orders are prepared and delivered accurately and in a timely manner. This may involve communicating special requests or dietary restrictions to the kitchen and coordinating the timing of food preparation and delivery.
  • Communication: Effective communication is essential for waitresses to coordinate with other staff members, handle customer inquiries and complaints, and ensure smooth operations in the restaurant. This includes communicating with management, fellow servers, kitchen staff, and customers.
  • Adherence to Health and Safety Regulations: Waitresses must adhere to strict health and safety regulations to ensure the well-being of both customers and staff. This includes maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in dining areas, handling food safely, and following proper procedures for hygiene and food handling.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: The food service industry can be fast-paced and unpredictable, so waitresses must be flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances. This may involve adjusting to fluctuations in customer traffic, accommodating special requests or dietary restrictions, and multitasking effectively during busy periods.

Requirements

  • Interested candidates should possess an SSCE qualification with 1 - 2 years work experience.
