Hamilton Lloyd and Associates: Our Client is an indigenous Oil Exploration and Production Company with a focus on West Africa and the Gulf of Guinea as its core production areas. The company is registered with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) as a contractor of preference in the supply of key equipment in the oil and gas industry. They are also in joint venture partnerships with some indigenous oil and gas companies.

Hamilton Lloyd and Associates is recruiting to fill the positions of:

Job Title: Chief Operating Officer
Location: Lagos


Role summary:
Provide overall direction and guidance to the operational activities of the Company with the objective of maximizing growth and profitability as well as day-to-day leadership and management to all Company operations functions

Relationships:
All Units

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement and maintain the company Business Management System for all production and maintenance related operations
  • The Chief Operating Officer will have operational, financial, business development and P&L responsibility for operating locations.
  • Will participate in corporate strategic and business planning, recommend asset deployment, acquisition and growth as well as develop strategies to ensure long term profitability growth and competitiveness.
  • Will evaluate operations results, take corrective actions, set key performance indicators and prioritize opportunities for improvement.
  • Review and approve rig and equipment upgrades and monitor vendor and contractor performance quality and take corrective action as required.
  • Directly supervise, lead, manage and coach the respective managers as well as hire, train, mentor, evaluate and retain employees.
  • Recommend and administer various plans, policies and programs related to drilling activities and keep abreast of content and impact of state and or local agreements.
  • Develop and maintain an effective stocks and spare parts inventory program and preventative maintenance program for field operations
  • Discuss, approve and monitor capital and operating expense budgets and ensure cost and profitability targets are met.
  • Assume role as regional leader in setting company’s goal to be a top performer in HSE and monitor compliance with company’s standards and local regulations including analyzing and taking corrective action or proposals for improving HSE.
  • Negotiate and prepare operational contracts, sub-contracts, call-off contracts and service orders

  • Must know the business and the mission-critical technical and functional skills needed to do the job
  • Understands various types of business propositions and understands how businesses operate in general
  • Learns new methods and technologies easily.
  • Familiarity with the general principles of Production Sharing Agreements (PSAs) Extensive working knowledge of Petroleum Engineering
  • Ability to rationally outline and explain, as appropriate, differing technical scenarios, events, and proposals to an audience who may lack the background to understand technical explanations

Educational Background
University degree, preferably in Petroleum Engineering, Geology, Mechanical Engineering or related field preferable

Experience
10-12 years E&P experience with supervising off-shore and on-shore drilling, work over and completions operations, or equivalent.

Onshore and offshore experience as well as demonstrable business operations and financial acumen, evidenced by breadth and depth of experience.
Experience of field development projects
