We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Protection Caseworker

Location: Borno

Job Role

  • The Protection Case Worker has responsibility to initiate, oversee and support the implementation of child protection and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) strategies and activities at the camp/community level.
  • The CP/GBV Case Worker will be responsible for implementing the work of and providing guidance to the Community on Child Protection and GBV activities.

Key Areas of Accountabilities

  • Represent CASFOD in the field, with professionalism, honesty and commitment
  • Identify child protection cases and GBV survivour for assessments, home visits and follow-ups
  • Conduct assessments of children at risk and survivors of gender-based violence to determine their needs and develop appropriate care plans.
  • Provide emotional support, counselling, and advocacy services to survivors, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including government agencies, law enforcement, healthcare professionals, and community organizations, to coordinate comprehensive support services.
  • Conduct community outreach and awareness-raising activities to prevent gender-based violence and promote child protection.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case files and documentation in accordance with organizational policies and legal requirements.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, training sessions, and supervision to enhance professional development and ensure quality service delivery.
  • Facilitate service mapping and update referral systems to respond to protection issues. 
  • Comply with all relevant CASFOD’s (child Safe Guarding policy, code of conduct etc.) and procedures with respect to child protection, health and safety and other relevant policies 
  • Perform any other duties that will be assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work / Social Sciences or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in child protection and/or gender-based violence response, preferably in a non-profit or humanitarian organization. 
  • Strong understanding of human rights principles, particularly as they relate to gender equality and child protection.
  • Proven ability to conduct assessments, develop care plans, and provide psychosocial support to survivors of trauma.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Fluency in English, hausa and kanuri is highly desirable.
  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining confidentiality. 
  • Good IT skills including g the use of Word and database software
  • Demonstrable ability to adapt to changing programme priorities and emergency priorities that may arise
  • Strong self-starter, able to take initiative and adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
  • Positive attitude towards community work with emphasis on the ability to learn from communities and support innovative approaches to problem solving
  • Commitment to CASFOD’s safeguarding Policy.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of local language
  • Experience in designing and facilitating training sessions
  • Understanding of the region dynamics of the conflict 
  • Experience in working in an insecure environment
