Job Title: Data Analyst

Job Description
  • The primary responsibility of the data analyst is to build and maintain a complete database of the oil and gas well completion and production information.
  • Responsibilities include understanding all the technical aspects of the data and will directly support E&P data management data specialists and asset team business data users with help, issue resolution and determining the root cause of data issues.
  • Will work with IT on data designs, integrations, controls and issue resolution. Additional responsibilities include supporting E&P data specialist’s data activities, issue resolution, standards and workflow development, data loading, data quality control, business rule development, and data analysis.
  • This position requires E&P business understanding, data technical expertise, teamwork, and communications skills in order to effectively execute the data management activities and responsibilities. The work performed by this position is critical to the effectiveness of the E&P data management organization.

Key Deliverables/KPI - SMART - Maximum 5
  • Gather well completion and production data from field on a daily basis. Manage and support upstream technical (structured and unstructured) data and process. Manage the company upstream oil & gas data including well, completion and production data
  • Act as the subject matter expert for all oil & gas upstream data
  • Support, promote and document all Data Management processes and procedures related to upstream oil & gas data.
  • Develop and maintain SQL scripts to effectively manipulate and massage data for efficient loading into interpretation tools for the business.
  • Develop workflows and tools (scripts and stored procedures) that automate data loading processes and help to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Responsible for ensuring the quality, consistency and integrity of data in a timely, effective and reliable manner.
  • Develop and maintain data standards and procedures.
  • Provide direction and strategy for supporting various end user applications and data file export formats for the Completion and Production data products.

  • Strong understanding of Upstream Oil & Gas data and databases
  • Knowledge of data management standards, processes and technologies.
  • The ability to assimilate and prioritize extensive information flows and work to a strict deadline.
  • Proficient ability to explain technical information to a non-technical audience. Reports directly to senior management
General Knowledge, Managerial and/or Technical Skills - 5 Maximum
  • Leadership: Strong Leadership position in E & P Company, excellent influencing skills and ability to forge strong relationships at various levels, proven ability to lead and inspire cross-discipline groups, commitment to technical leadership and ability to lead skills pool staff working under different teams.
  • Influencing Skills: Ability to capitalizes on both formal channels and informal networks to achieve goals. Forms alliances with key players to get things done.
Education/Certification & Experience required - 5 maximum
  • A graduate Degree (HND or BSc) in Engineering, ICT, or Physical Science, with a minimum of 4 years oil and gas.
  • 4 years experience as a petrotechnical data manager with particular exposure to completion and production data.
  • Demonstrated project management experience
  • Hands on experience with industry data management key applications.
