Job Summary
- As a Parking Enforcement Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with parking regulations and maintaining orderly parking conditions within designated areas. You will patrol assigned locations, issue citations for parking violations, provide assistance to the public, and promote traffic safety and efficient use of parking spaces.
Key Responsibilities
Patrol and Monitoring:
- Conduct routine patrols of assigned parking areas to identify violations such as expired meters, unauthorized parking, or improper permits.
- Monitor parking spaces for occupancy and ensure adherence to parking regulations.
Issuance of Citations:
- Issue warnings or citations to vehicles violating parking regulations.
- Record details of violations, including vehicle information, location, and nature of the violation.
Customer Assistance:
- Assist drivers with parking-related inquiries, directions, and information about parking regulations.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service to address public concerns and inquiries.
Enforcement of Regulations:
- Ensure compliance with local parking ordinances and regulations.
- Coordinate with law enforcement agencies for more serious violations or towing of vehicles.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of citations issued, warnings given, and actions taken.
- Prepare detailed reports documenting daily activities and incidents.
Safety and Traffic Management:
- Promote traffic safety and efficient use of parking spaces to minimize congestion and ensure accessibility.
- Monitor and report any safety hazards or maintenance issues related to parking facilities.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in law enforcement or related field is a plus.
- 1 - 2 years work experience
- Previous experience in parking enforcement, security, or related roles preferred.
- Knowledge of parking regulations, traffic laws, and enforcement procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with the public.
- Ability to work independently and make sound judgments in enforcing parking rules.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Physical ability to walk or stand for extended periods and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, or holidays as needed.
- Ability to handle potentially confrontational situations with professionalism and diplomacy.
- Training in first aid, CPR, or relevant emergency response procedures may be beneficial.
