Job Title: Research and Development (R&D) Manager

Job Description

• In our quest to strengthen our leadership in CX management in Africa, we are looking for an innovative and visionary Research and Development (R&D) Manager.
• This strategic role involves leading the R&D team in the development of new products and the implementation of cutting-edge technologies.

Responsibilities

• Build up and supervise the R&D team in the search for new innovations and improvements to existing products.
• Propose annual and multi-year research and development (R&D) choices based on the company’s needs and its R&D strategy in terms of innovation.
• Document, present and support the legitimacy, relevance and feasibility of its research choices.
• Set up the annual research schedule according to the resources available for new products or product adaptations, in response to requests from the company’s management and/or marketing department.
• Participate in drawing up specifications for a new product or software modification. If necessary, ensure product patentability.
• Work closely with other departments to ensure alignment of R&D projects with the company’s strategic and commercial objectives.
• Manage the R&D budget, allocate resources and plan project schedules.
• Conduct market analysis and technology watch to identify opportunities for innovative product development.
• Establish strategic partnerships with research institutions, suppliers and other key partners.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, regulations and industry best practices.
• Present R&D project results and strategic recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
• Draft hypotheses following research.
• Develop experimental protocols and define research protocol based on established research.
• Propose new lines of research if necessary.
• Carry out trials and write up comments and conclusions.
• Estimate the budget and resources required for the projects.
• Write scientific articles in books or on dedicated websites.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Research and Development or a related field.
• At least 4 years’ experience in research and software development, preferably in SaaS environment.
• Thoroughness and attention to detail.
• Ability to concentrate and patience.
• Excellent understanding of computer systems, software and hardware.
• Advanced project management, leadership and communication skills. This includes effective verbal and written communication.
• Ability to analyze data, identify trends and propose effective solutions.
• Exceptional communication, organization and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
