News: GE Nigeria Trains 15 New Graduates

GE Nigeria - In line with its commitment to improving the skills of young Nigerians and ensuring technology transfer, the General Electric Nigeria has sent about 15 newly recruited technicians and engineers to Brazil for training in the assembly and test of subsea equipment.

In a statement in Lagos, the firm said that most of the trainees were fresh graduates who had been deployed for the one-month training.

The President and CEO, GE Nigeria, Dr. Lazarus Angbazo , explained that over the coming months, the team would proceed to Aberdeen for the next phase of the training in GE's Bridge of Don manufacturing facility where they would receive further hands-on exposure to subsea equipment manufacturing activities.

According to Angbazo, "The trainees include three manufacturing engineers and 12 technicians who form the core team for assembly and testing of subsea equipment. GE is investing approximately $3.6 million in the training and development of these employees".

The GE Nigeria boss added that the new recruits had been engaged in rigorous training programmes which included the GE new employee orientation training, a 90 - days assimilation training programme in the Port Harcourt office as well as workshop training at the Onne facility.
