Director of Works at Jigawa State Polytechnic

The Jigawa State Polytechnic, Dutse is a state government higher education institution located in Dutse, Jigawa State, Nigeria. The Jigawa State Polytechnic, Dutse was established in 2007 after the takeover of Hussaini Adamu Polytechnic by the Federal Government of Nigeria and renamed to Hussaini Adamu Federal Polytechnic.

The Governing Council of the Polytechnic invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position below:

Job Title: Director of Works

Location: Dutse, Jigawa

Job Description

• Director of Works is the Head of Works Department and he is responsible to the Rector in the general administration of the department.

Responsibilities

• Implementation of the Polytechnic physical master plan
• Overall control of works and estate department.
• Formulating divisional strategies to achieve the Institutional goals
• Planning and controlling the technical activities of the works department.
• Advising the Rector on the acquisition, operation and maintenance of all fixed assets of the Polytechnic.
• Preparing the works department's budget and exercising budgetary controls.
• Keeping inventory of all Polytechnic vehicles and taking responsibility for their maintenance, security and up-keep. viii. Supervision of all staff in the works department.
• Any other duties that may be assigned by the Rector.

Requirements

• Holders of a good Degree in the relevant field with at least 15 years' experience in project/work management
• A registered Engineer with Master's Degree with at least 12 years relevant experience.
• A registered Engineer with Ph.D and 9 years relevant experience.
• The candidate must possess professionally recognized certificate with current practicing license.
• Knowledge of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is an added advantage.
