Job Description
We are looking for a Mechanic who is conversant with maintenance of Container Handling Equipments (ECH) such as Reach stackers, Empty Handlers, Forklifts, trucks and other port vehicles and equipment.

Principal Accountabilities
(IPE Factors: Impact & Innovation)
  • Repairs and overhauls all types of engines and automatic and manual transmissions.
  • Reads job order and observes and listens to vehicle in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures.
  • Removes unit such as engine, transmission or differential. Disassembles unit and inspects parts for wear.
  • Repairs or replaces parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings.
  • Overhauls gas or diesel engines.
  • Overhauls or replaces carburettors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters and pumps.
  • Rebuilds parts such as crankshafts and cylinder blocks.
  • Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices, and makes adjustments.
  • Replaces and adjusts headlights, and installs and repairs accessories such as mirrors and wipers.
  • Lubricates moving parts and drives repaired vehicle to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Relines and adjusts brakes, aligns front end, repairs or replaces shock absorbers, and solders leaks in radiator.
  • Fabricates special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields or other devices in accordance with drawings.
  • Conducts preventive maintenance service on all types of vehicles and equipment.
  • Determine cause of failure of mechanical components of yard equipment & service machines.
  • Maintains a neat, tidy and safe workstation.
  • Follows safety and health rules and regulations.
  • Reads spare parts manuals, determines & selects engine spare parts.
  • Reads service manuals, analyses & investigates engine mechanical faults.
  • Reconditions usable parts to minimize maintenance costs.
  • Provides training and instruction to the less experienced workers
  • Provides complete and accurate reports as needed.
  • Informs supervisor of any workmanship issues, requests checking of work when appropriate, and seeks approval of completed work.
  • Must be able to read hydraulic diagrams
  • Requires the skills to judge engine mechanical damages
