Job Title: Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) Officer

Job Summary
- The SGBV Officer will be responsible for managing, coordinating and monitoring the SGBV prevention and response in our program implementation.
- S/He will work in close collaboration with the Program Manager to ensure successful implementation of the SGBV prevention and response program.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver training sessions and capacity building programs to program GBV team on GBV prevention, including awareness-raising, gender sensitivity, human rights e.t.c. while working closely with the PM to deliver within the project indicators and activities as assigned to meet project objectives and expected outcome.
- Conduct assessments and research to identify the prevalence and root causes of gender-based violence within the target area of project implementation.
- Work closely with the Program Manager to initiate planning for longer-term GBV prevention and response activities, including referral pathway and standard operating procedures.
- Set-up and manage integrated safe spaces for SBGV cases.
- Maintain, monitor and measure GBV project implementation and contribute to effective information management on GBV survivors, adhering to the national guidance on case management of survivors and the SOPs.
- Support the implementation of the SGBV prevention and response by managing program implementation and monitoring.
- Provide technical support and guidance to staff and volunteers involved in GBV prevention and response activities through assigned project approaches.
- Compile accurate and timely reports on program activities, achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
- Stay updated on relevant policies, guidelines, and best practices related to gender-based violence prevention and response and PSEA.
- Develop and maintain partnerships among other agencies, clusters/sectors, as part of humanitarian response.
- Support prevention of SGBV and women’s empowerment in the communities.
- Strengthen the capacity of community leaders to effectively manage the citizens of their communities and further reduce the case of SGBV to a minimum.
- Achieve social cohesion and community security with participation of women, youth, religious and other groups.
- Participate in conducting, consolidating, and reporting on SGBV assessments.
- Support operational capacity development efforts and provide technical support on gender and SGBV mainstreaming.
- Under the guidance of the Program Manager, support and facilitate the establishment of and ensure the functioning of SGBV coordination mechanisms with all relevant stakeholders.
- Set-up and support meeting for advisory groups and develop informative materials for learning.
- Raise awareness about SGBV in community meetings and fora.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or other Social Sciences, Public Health, Community Health, International Relations, International Law, Human Rights or related field
- A minimum of 3 years’ work experience in program management, monitoring and evaluation with a focus on designing and delivering SGBV programs.
- Experience in results-based management, project and team management.
- Demonstrated ability to assess, supervise and co-ordinate technical work in SGBV prevention and response in humanitarian and recovery settings.
- Excellent writing skills in English and experience in writing reports.
- Awareness and demonstrable knowledge of how SGBV manifests in humanitarian settings and ability to describe context-specific prevention and response actions.
- Demonstrable knowledge of and experience in humanitarian emergency operations.
- Demonstrable knowledge of reproductive health issues and/or protection issues in humanitarian and recovery settings.
- Knowledge of the humanitarian reform process and roles/responsibilities of humanitarian actors.
- Experience working directly with survivors of SGBV using a survivor-centered approach is recommended.
