Job Title: Kitchen Supervisor / Cook

Location: Awka, Anambra

Job Summary

  • Our Client urgently requires the services of a Kitchen Supervisor/Cooks with SSCE, OND, in the relevant field.
  • The ideal candidate must be an experienced person that is able to prepare African and Continental dishes.
  • He/She should be able to promote and sell a range of the Hotel services, including the meals, Mano Bread, and Mano Plate dining experiences

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and coordinates activities of food preparation, kitchen, pantry, and storeroom personnel and purchases or requisitions foodstuffs and kitchen supplies: Plans or participates in planning menus, preparing and apportioning foods, and utilizing food surpluses and leftovers.
  • Specifies number of servings to be made from any vegetable, meat, beverage, and dessert to control portion costs.
  • Supervises noncooking personnel, such as kitchen helper , to ensure cleanliness of kitchen and equipment.
  • Supervises COOK and tastes, smells, and observes food to ensure conformance with recipes and appearance standards.
  • Supervises workers engaged in inventory, storage, and distribution of foodstuffs and supplies.
  • Purchases foodstuffs, kitchen supplies, and equipment, or requisitions them from purchasing agent.
  • May set prices to be charged for food items.
  • May meet with professional staff, customers, or client group to resolve menu inconsistencies or to plan menus for special occasions.
  • Planning out a range of meals (a menu), a whole meal or part of a meal
  • Listing the ingredients, planning the quantities, fitting the costs to the budget, and arranging to buy them
  • Organising other members of the kitchen staff, making sure that each part of the meal will be ready at the right time
  • Using a variety of methods for food preparation, cooking and food storage
  • Preparing and cooking the whole meal or else being part of a team cooking, for example, the vegetables or the puddings
  • Experimenting with developing new recipes
  • Specialising in one type of cooking such as Italian or Tandoori
  • As a senior chef, recruiting and training staff, planning staff rotas and managing budgets
  • Keeping up to date with trends in cuisine.
