Job Title: Line Chef

Location: Victoria Island, Lagos

Job Summary

  • We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Line Chef to join our culinary team at our hospitality company.
  • The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality dishes.
  • As a Line Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food items according to our recipes and standards, ensuring a consistent and exceptional dining experience for our guests.

Job Responsibilities
Food Preparation:

  • Prepare and cook menu items in line with established recipes and standards.
  • Ensure all food items are cooked to the correct temperature and presentation.

Station Management

  • Manage a specific station in the kitchen, ensuring all ingredients are available and prepped.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the station throughout service.

Quality Control:

  • Inspect food products for quality and presentation before they are served.
  • Ensure all dishes meet our high standards for taste, appearance, and portion size.

Inventory and Supplies:

  • Assist with inventory management, including ordering and stocking of ingredients.
  • Monitor stock levels and notify the Head Chef or Sous Chef of any shortages.

Sanitation and Safety:

  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines, ensuring a clean and safe kitchen environment.
  • Properly handle and store food items to prevent contamination.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and front-of-house staff to coordinate orders and service.

Menu Development:

  • Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef in developing new menu items and specials.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for improving existing dishes.

Training and Development:

  • Mentor and train junior kitchen staff, sharing knowledge and techniques.
  • Stay updated on culinary trends and techniques to continuously improve skills.

Qualifications

  • Culinary Degree or equivalent professional training preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a line chef or cook in a reputable restaurant or hotel.
  • Strong culinary skills and knowledge of various cooking methods and techniques.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Passionate about cooking and food.
  • High level of professionalism and reliability.
  • Ability to take direction and work independently.
  • Adaptable and open to feedback and learning.
