Job Title: Senior Accountant

Role Objectives

  • To help us reach our ambitious growth goals, MDaaS is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join the Finance & Accounting team at our company headquarters in Lagos.
  • The Senior Accountant’s responsibilities will include maintaining financial records, reports, and accounts, performing account reconciliations, and assisting with budget and close processes.
  • In addition, the Senior Accountant will work closely with the Head of Finance and CFO to continuously adapt and improve upon accounting processes as the company scales.

Role Responsibilities
The Senior Accountant will report directly to the company’s Head of Finance; their responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:

  • Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
  • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
  • Manage accounting assistants and Bookkeepers
  • Prepare financial statements and budget
  • Assist with statutory and tax audit
  • Generate and deliver reports to different departments as needed.
  • Actively investigate and resolve irregularities in both incoming and outgoing payments.
  • Update the fixed asset register and maintain the necessary books of accounts.
  • Update the inventory software.
  • Reconcile reports to third-party records such as bank statements.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
  • Liaise with Head of Finance and CFO to improve financial procedures

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess a B.Sc / HND in Accounts and Finance-related roles.
  • Minimum of 5 years cognate experience as an Accountant. Experience in the Health sector will be an added advantage.
  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional association.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office package, especially Excel and Word.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting packages such as Xero.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to identify, prevent, and solve problems.
  • Ability to work under pressure, independently, and with limited supervision flexibility.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and to multitask to meet deadlines.
  • Promotes teamwork, contributes towards building team consensus, and acts as a team player.
  • Consistently approach work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude.
