Job Title: Pen Attendant

Location: Ipatira, Igbessa, Ado-Odo / Ota, Ogun

Job Summary

  • We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Pen Attendant to join our team.
  • The Pen Attendant will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and overall hygiene of the poultry pens, including cleaning the poultry pits and ensuring a healthy environment for our birds.
  • This role is crucial to the health and productivity of our poultry and the overall success of our farm operations.

Key Responsibilities
Cleaning and Maintenance:

  • Regularly clean and disinfect poultry pits to ensure a sanitary environment.
  • Remove and properly dispose of waste materials from the pits and pens.
  • Clean and sanitize feeders, waterers, and other equipment in the pens.
  • Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the poultry houses, including floors, walls, and ceilings.

Animal Care:

  • Monitor the health and well-being of the poultry, reporting any signs of illness or distress to the Farm Manager.
  • Assist with feeding and watering the poultry as needed.
  • Ensure that all animals have access to clean water and fresh food at all times.

Environmental Control:

  • Manage ventilation systems to maintain optimal temperature and air quality within the poultry houses.
  • Ensure proper lighting conditions for the poultry.

Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate records of cleaning schedules, waste disposal, and any issues observed with the poultry or equipment.
  • Assist with inventory management of cleaning supplies and report when stocks are low.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to all farm safety protocols and biosecurity measures to prevent the spread of diseases.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Participate in training sessions on safety and hygiene practices.

General Support:

  • Assist with other farm duties as needed, including helping with the maintenance of the farm facilities and equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with other farm staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in poultry farming or a similar agricultural role is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Basic understanding of animal care and welfare.
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and environments.

Working Conditions:

  • The role involves working in poultry houses, which can be dusty and may have strong odors.
  • Physical demands include lifting heavy objects, working with cleaning chemicals, and performing repetitive tasks.
  • Work hours may vary, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
