Job Title: Group General Manager

Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Purpose

  • As the Group General Manager, Projects, you will spearhead the successful implementation of projects across the Group.
  • Your role will encompass managing the entire project lifecycle, including design, construction, procurement, and budget oversight.
  • You will ensure projects are completed efficiently in terms of time, quality, and cost.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Oversee planning, execution, and day-to-day activities of all projects. Handle technical issues and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory conditions.
  • Strategic Implementation: Develop and implement strategies to boost productivity and project efficiency, ensuring projects stay within budget.
  • Coordination: Facilitate communication among all project stakeholders and resolve bottlenecks.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify and manage project risks, ensuring resolution of potential issues.
  • Supervision: Manage construction and project managers to track progress and compliance with safety codes.
  • Financial Oversight: Ensure timely valuation and payment of contractors' work, and maintain expenses within the project budget.
  • Quality Control: Monitor quality and specifications, ensuring all deliverables meet required standards.
  • Resource Management: Coordinate human and material resources on-site, maintaining stakeholder satisfaction and handling contract disputes.
  • Reporting: Maintain a robust reporting system for executive management, and lead regular project review meetings.

Key Performance Areas

  • Profit Margin: Compare actual vs. baseline profit margins.
  • Cost Predictability: Manage design and construction costs.
  • Project Completion Ratio: Track actual vs. baseline completion rates.
  • Liability Ratio: Assess and manage asset-related liabilities.
  • Work Standards: Monitor percentage of work meeting standards and schedule.
  • Turnaround Time: Address defect rectification efficiently.

Dimensions:
Financial:

  • On-time invoicing.
  • Effective use of company assets.
  • Maintain expenses within budget.
  • Increase turnover.

Staff:

  • Supervise and direct staff and subcontractors.
  • Report progress and resolve issues.
  • Mentor Project Managers and Supervisors.
  • Education, Experience & Skills

Educational Qualification

  • B.E. in Civil Engineering or relevant engineering discipline.
  • Certification in Project Management is required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 20 years cumulative experience, with at least 10 years in a Senior Management role (preferably in Nigeria).
  • Proven experience in engineering project management within a dynamic environment.

Skills:

  • Financial and commercial management.
  • Strategic perspective with strong analytical skills.
  • Client relations and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of codes, standards, and safety requirements.
  • Teamwork, collaboration, reliability, and discretion.
