Federal College of Education, Pankshin - This institution is the Federal College of Education, Pankshin established over thirty two years ago. The College started as the Federal Advanced Teachers College (FATC) in 1974 at a temporary site in Mararaba Pushit, some 17 kilometres to Pankshin town.

The Governing Council of the Federal College of Education, Pankshin has declared a vacancy for the position of Provost in the College with effect from January 2016.

Job Description
  • Candidates for the post must demonstrate evidence of strong academic and administrative leadership and creativity in policy formulation, good human relations and positive managerial attributes.
  • Such candidate must not be above the age of 60.
Duties
  • The Provost is the Chief Executive of the College.
  • The successful candidate would be expected to provide the required academic, administrative and professional leadership for the College in executing the broad policies laid down by the Governing Council for the achievement of the objectives for which the Institution was established.
  • He/she shall foster good rapport with the relevant organs of the Federal Ministry of Education, National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) and other professional bodies that could lead to the ultimate attainment by the College of the status of Centre of Excellence for which the College has been earmarked.
Qualification
  • Candidates should possess at least a Masters Degree in a field relevant to at least one programme in the College from a recognized University. The possession of a higher degree such as Ph.D will be an added advantage. The possession of professional teaching qualification (minimum: Nigeria Certificate in Education, NCE) or Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) is MANDATORY.
  • Candidates must have held senior teaching research and top administrative posts in an institution of higher learning for a minimum of fifteen (15) years post qualification. Candidate must possess cognate experience and must not be below the rank of Chief Lecturer in a College of Education or a Reader or Associate Professor in a University or equivalent institutions.
  • Candidates must show evidence of good track record in result oriented researches reaching high, national and international status in their research achievement.
  • Candidates must be Chief Lecturers of at least five years experience.
  • Candidates must be of good conduct, possess a sense of discipline, dedication, drive, resourcefulness and be able to command the respect and loyalty of the members of staff and the students of the College, He/she must be somebody who is not likely to promote personal, ethnic, religious and other sectional interests.
  • Preference will be given to candidates from the Colleges of Education System.
  • Candidates must be proficient in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Terms of Appointment
  • Appointment is tenure and a report of medical fitness from a recognized hospital is mandatory.
  • The salary attached to the post is according to a special scheme of service and is consolidated.
  • Other entitlements are according to current Government policy.
