Job Title: Purchasing Manager
Location: First Avenue - Gwarinpa, Abuja (FCT)
Job Description
- The ideal candidate will have 3 - 6 years of experience in a big retail outlet and will be responsible for managing the procurement process, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of quality goods.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Management:
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies in alignment with the supermarket’s objectives.
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services.
- Maintain and update purchasing records, reports, and price lists.
Supplier Relations:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing suppliers.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to secure advantageous terms.
- Monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with contractual agreements.
Inventory Control:
- Monitor stock levels and place orders as needed to maintain inventory levels.
- Collaborate with inventory control staff to manage inventory turnover and reduce excess stock.
- Ensure the availability of products to meet customer demands without overstocking.
Cost Management:
- Develop cost-saving initiatives and identify opportunities to reduce procurement costs.
- Analyze market trends to forecast future prices and purchasing trends.
- Ensure that the procurement budget is adhered to and report any variances to management.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that purchased products meet the supermarket's quality standards and specifications.
- Coordinate with the quality control team to address any issues with product quality.
Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to procurement and supplier management.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 3 - 6 years of experience in purchasing/procurement in a large retail outlet or supermarket.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience in contract management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
