We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Legal Specialist III (SRL)

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities

  • Legal Advisory: Provide expert legal counsel to senior management and various departments on complex legal matters including corporate governance, compliance, mergers and acquisitions, and contract negotiation, and interpret laws, regulations, and policies to ensure organizational compliance and mitigate risks.
  • Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate high-value and complex contracts, agreements, and legal documents. Develop and implement contract management policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and compliance.
  • Litigation Management: Oversee and manage litigation and dispute resolution processes, including coordinating with external counsel and representing the organization in legal proceedings. Develop and execute strategies to resolve disputes effectively and minimize legal exposure.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations, advising the organization on their impact and ensuring adherence to legal requirements. Conduct internal audits and compliance reviews to ensure operational practices align with legal standards.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Provide training and guidance to staff on legal and regulatory issues.
  • Policy Development: Develop, review, and update company policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and operational efficiency. Advise on the implementation of legal policies and best practices.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support business objectives while managing legal risks. Liaise with external legal advisors, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal qualification from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in a senior legal role, with a strong background in corporate law, contract management, and litigation.
  • Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong negotiation and communication skills. Proven track record of managing complex legal matters and high-value contracts. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
