Job Title: Business Development Manager - Tech Sales

Job Description

  • Managing relationships with all partners on behalf of the firm, fostering personal connections, and driving professional revenue generation within the portfolio. 
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify new business opportunities and industry trends. 
  • Analyse the competitive landscape to inform strategic decisions and positioning. 
  • Identify and qualify potential clients and partners through various channels (e.g., networking, cold calling, digital marketing). 
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of leads and prospects. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and industry influencers. 
  • Conduct meetings, presentations, and negotiations to secure new business deals. 
  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and business objectives. 
  • Collaborate with marketing and product teams to create compelling sales materials and campaigns. 
  • Prepare and present detailed proposals, quotes, and contracts tailored to client needs. 
  • Negotiate terms and conditions to close deals and secure long-term partnerships. 
  • Monitor and report on sales performance, market trends, and business development activities. 
  • Utilise CRM tools to manage client interactions and track sales progress. 
  • Organising events and managing speaking engagements to further position [AI] Analytics Intelligence Africa as a thought leader in the industry. 
  • Handling public relations on behalf of the firm and portfolio companies, maintaining positive relationships with media and stakeholders. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Computer Science, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is a plus. 
  • Proven minimum of 3 years experience in Business Development/ leadership roles within tech startup or Venture Capital environments. 
  • Strong understanding of Artificial Intelligence, data analytics and related technologies.
  • Strong leadership, data analysis, and financial management skills. 
  • Deep understanding of the African tech and venture capital landscape. 
  • Relevant educational background in marketing, business, or related fields. 
  • Certifications or additional qualifications relevant to marketing or investor relations are advantageous. 
  • Proficiency in implementing data-driven strategies to maximise marketing ROI. 
  • Must have Enterprise B2B product marketing and inbound demand/lead generation experience. 
  • Prior experience with remote, distributed teams is a strong plus.
