Job Title: Rolling Mill Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Location: Ikorodu, Lagos

Job Summary

  • The Rolling Mill Mechanical Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of mechanical equipment in the rolling mill, through proactive maintenance, repairs, and improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.
  • Conduct routine and predictive maintenance tasks, including inspections, repairs, and replacements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical issues, using technical expertise and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborate with production teams to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize production disruptions.
  • Design and implement improvements to mechanical systems, increasing efficiency and reducing costs.
  • Manage and mentor maintenance technicians, providing guidance and training to enhance skills.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations, maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Analyze equipment performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and manage maintenance budgets, ensuring cost-effective maintenance practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a rolling mill or heavy industry.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills, with ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with experience in team management.
  • Familiarity with maintenance management software and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Continuous learning and professional development in maintenance best practices and technologies.

Certifications / Licenses:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent
  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) or equivalent.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a fast-paced industrial environment with exposure to noise, heat, and hazardous materials.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, including safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots.
  • Rotate shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.
