ITP Nurse Aide at the Taimaka Project - 2 Openings

The Taimaka Project runs a treatment program for acute malnutrition in children younger than five years in Gombe state, Nigeria. Within our treatment program, we incubate innovations to make malnutrition treatment better, cheaper, and simpler so that scarce resources can save more lives. Our research team is preparing to launch a study on the mental health of caregivers of children who are acutely malnourished.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: ITP Nurse Aide

Locations: Deba and Bajoga - Gombe

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients to the facility.
• Apply procedures of triage and perform admissions on new cases according to protocol.
• Ensure timely and quality identification and treatment of acute medical complications associated with malnutrition.
• Monitor therapeutic feed and ensure children get feeds as required.
• Facilitate timely referral of complicated SAM to tertiary facilities when necessary.
• Carry out regular procedures like; blood samples, and provide IV medications according to doctor’s prescription.
• Advice on treatment regimens for the patients and caregivers.
• Ensure caregivers receive adequate Education and IYCF counseling.
• Maintain equipment in good condition.

Requirement and skills

• Educational requirement: CHEW/JCHEW
• Candidates should have at least 2 to 3 years of experience at the Stabilization Center.
• Fluency in Hausa is required, Tera and Fulfulde desired.
• Proficiency in English.
• Willingness to learn and adapt.
