Job Summary
- The Commercial Sales Manager in Freight Forwarding is responsible for developing and executing a sales strategy to increase market share and revenue for the company's freight forwarding services.
- This role involves managing a sales team, identifying new business opportunities, fostering relationships with clients, and achieving sales targets.
- The position requires a deep understanding of logistics, supply chain management, and international freight forwarding services.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Planning:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve revenue growth in freight forwarding services.
- Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to inform business decisions.
- Set annual sales targets and KPIs, ensuring alignment with overall company goals.
Business Development:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in target markets, including lead generation and prospecting.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
- Negotiate and close deals with potential clients, ensuring profitable growth for the business.
Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and manage the sales team, providing guidance and support to achieve sales targets.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing training to enhance the skills and effectiveness of the sales team.
- Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team environment.
Client Relationship Managemen:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for major clients, addressing any concerns and ensuring the smooth delivery of services.
- Work closely with operations and customer service teams to ensure that customer expectations are met and exceeded.
- Continuously monitor client satisfaction and implement improvement plans as needed.
Pricing & Contract Negotiation:
- Develop pricing strategies that are competitive and aligned with market conditions while ensuring profitability.
- Lead contract negotiations with clients, ensuring that terms and conditions are favorable to the company.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., legal, finance) to finalize agreements.
Market Analysis & Reporting:
- Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and industry developments that may impact the freight forwarding business.
- Prepare regular sales reports and forecasts for senior management, providing insights into business performance.
- Adjust sales tactics as necessary to address changing market conditions and client needs.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Coordination:
- Collaborate with other departments, including operations, finance, and customer service, to ensure a seamless experience for clients.
- Work closely with the marketing team to create promotional materials, sales campaigns, and customer communication strategies.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure all sales activities comply with legal, regulatory, and company policies, including customs regulations and trade laws.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to contracts, pricing, and service delivery.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. MBA or other advanced degrees are a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in sales or business development within the freight forwarding or logistics industry.
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
- Experience in managing a sales team.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of freight forwarding operations, including air, sea, and land freight.
- Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to analyze and interpret sales data to inform decision-making.
