Introduction

The M.Sc and Ph.D programmes in Accounting and Business Administration offer outstanding students the opportunity to make significant and lasting contributions to the practice of accounting and business administration & management using modern/contemporary tools and techniques in decision making. Rigorous and challenging, these programmes open the door to intellectual fulfillment and exciting career in research and teaching. This enables our graduates to be employed at leading academic institutions.

The overall objectives of the programme are to:

(a) Provide well equipped Doctor of Philosophy graduates to pursue Accounting and Business Administration careers in the industry.

(b) Respond to the shortage of skilled Doctor of Philosophy personnel, within the university, industry and government systems.

(C) Provide the necessary skills needed to undertake independent research on Accounting/ Managerial issues both in the industry and within the University environment

Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the (i) Ph.D. Accounting Programme (three sessions), (ii) Ph.D. Business Administration Programme (three sessions), (iii) M.Sc Accounting (two sessions) and (iv) MSc. Business Administration (two sessions) for 2012/2013 academic year.

Admission Requirements

(i) M.Sc. Accounting Candidates must possess a minimum of second class lower (honours) degree in Accounting of the Obafemi Awolowo University or from any other recognized University. Candidates with degree in related disciplines such as Finance or Economics and have passed the final examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) may also be considered.

(ii) M.Sc. Business Administration- Candidates must possess a minimum of second class lower (honours) degree in Accounting of the Obafemi Awolowo University or from any other recognized University and candidates with degree in related disciplines such as Banking and Finance, Economics or any other cognate discipline.

Note: All M.Sc Accounting and Business Administration applicants MUST pass the MBA Admission Test (MBAAT) scheduled for Saturday, 24th November, 2012.

(iii) Ph.D. Accounting - Candidates with Master of Science degree in Accounting (with a minimum average of 60B+), Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) of the Obafemi Awolowo University or from other recognized institutions with research thesis are qualified for admission. In addition, such candidates shall be expected to submit a written proposal to the Department.

(iv) Ph.D. Business Administration - Only candidates with Master of Science degree in Business Administration (with a minimum average of 60B+), Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) of the Obafemi Awolowo University or from other recognized institutions with research thesis are qualified for admission. In addition, such candidates shall be expected to submit a written proposal to the Department.

Very important Notice
O.A.U. First Degree Matriculation Requirements

In addition to the admission requirements as published. ALL candidates should please note that in accordance with the University’s regulations, they must satisfy the ‘O’ levels First Degree matriculation requirements of the Obafemi Awolowo University i.e. ‘O’ level Credit passes at not more than two sittings including English Language for all disciplines and Mathematics for Science-based disciplines, Economics, Management and Accounting, Demography and Social Statistics and Environmental Design and Management inclusive.

Duly completed Application Forms must be submitted online on or before 26th October, 2012.

Candidates can conveniently complete the application forms and pay online by following the steps:

Step 1: Log on to our admission website http://apply.oaunetque.com

Step 2: Create an online account. E-mail will be sent with additional details including a system- generated password.

Step 3: With the e-mail and password combination, applicants should sign in and accurately fill the pages of the application form.

Step 4: Application processing fee can be paid using either ATM/Nigerian Debit Cards or the OAU Postgraduate Online application Scratch Cards (Details will be sent via e-mail).

Additional Information
ATM Cards for all banks on the lnterswitch network are supported.
(i) Application processing fee for Ph.D programmes costs N8,500 (Eight thousand five hundred Naira only).
(ii) Application processing fee for M.Sc programmes costs N10,000 (Ten thousand naira only).
The progress of completed application forms can be monitored online and notification will be sent to applicants once decisions are made on the applications.
Applicants will be notified of the status of their applications by e-mail. Admission letters will be sent by e-mail and courier.

Note:  Two sets of the following documents:-
the original transcript obtained from the applicants University, NYSC Discharged Certificate, B.Sc. and O'Level Certificates must be submitted and properly addressed to both the Secretary, Postgraduate College and The Head, Department of Management and Accounting respectively.
Any applicant whose original transcript does not reach us before the admission exercise commences "Will not be admitted". Applicants should include their e-mail addresses on the application Forms.
