Job Title: EOT Crane Operator (Ladle Crane Operator)

Locations: Sagamu, Ogun and Rivers
Reports to: Manager / In-charge

Position Overview

  • We are seeking to hire an EOT Crane Operator who will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the hot metal crane within the melt shop.
  • This role involves handling molten steel and slag, coordinating with the melt shop team, and ensuring adherence to safety and housekeeping standards.

Key Deliverables
Crane Operation:

  • Safely operate the overhead crane during both operational and maintenance periods.
  • Manage the transport of hot metal and empty ladles after processing.
  • Control crane movements to lift, move, position, or place materials and equipment according to specifications.

Team Coordination:

  • Work closely with the melt shop team to ensure smooth operations.
  • Cross-train other team members in hot metal crane operation.

Safety Compliance:

  • Uphold and lead safety practices and policies.
  • Demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and enforce safety procedures within the SMS environment.

Housekeeping:

  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping around the crane and work area at all times.

Machine Monitoring:

  • Track the functioning of the crane, noting any irregularities during and after processing.
  • Inform the Manager/In-charge of any issues for corrective action.
  • Fill out logbooks, records, and checklists accurately.

Management Advice:

  • Advise management on the safety and operational status of equipment.
  • Provide input on whether continued operation is hazardous.

Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess an OND / HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is advantageous.
  • Must have 6-10 years of relevant experience in crane operation, particularly with overhead or ladle cranes.
  • Possession of a valid crane operator certification or license as required by local regulations.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, good hand-eye coordination, and the ability to make quick decisions in a dynamic environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Salary
N150,000 - N200,000 / Month
