IITA is an international non-profit agricultural research-for-development (R4D) organization established in 1967, governed by a Board of Trustees, and a member of the CGIAR Consortium. Our R4D approach is anchored on the development needs of the tropics. We work with partners to enhance crop quality and productivity, reduce producer and consumer risks, and generate wealth from agriculture. We have more than 100 internationally recruited scientists from about 35 countries and 900 nationally recruited staff based in various stations across Africa.

Applications are invited for the internationally recruited position of:

Job Title: Driver I

Location: Borno, Nigeria

Duties
The successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:
  • Drive IITA vehicles in a safe and courteous manner
  • Perform necessary cleaning and washing of the assigned vehicles as needed
  • Provide timely advice to the transport office of any vehicle requiring maintenance and services
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Qualification
  • Minimum of WASC/NECO. At least 4 years professional driving experience in a reputable organization. Versatility of driving any varying automobiles and work experience in grain legume value chain.
Duration
  • (2-year renewable Contract).
Competencies:
  • Ability to communicate fluently (orally and in writing) in the English language.
  • Ability to communicate in one or more of Nigeria’s major languages.
  • Capacity to work effectively in a team.
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License.
