The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is an international non-profit agricultural research-for-development (R4D) organization established in 1967, governed by a Board of Trustees, and a member of the CGIAR Consortium. Job Title: Driver/Fieldworker

Recruitment Type: National (1-year renewable contract)
Position/Responsibilities
- Drive AfricaYam project staff, visiting partners, short-time consultants and other staff;
- Ensure kitting (tools, medical box, and accessories) are in good condition and vehicles are clean at all times;
- Carry out routine vehicle maintenance checks (cleaning of inside and outside, daily/regular check-up of the engine oil level, the battery and the air filter etc.)
- Report any malfunction of the vehicle and schedule maintenance with approved service provider
- Record trip details in the vehicle logbook including filling of the monthly time sheet
- Liaise with Insurance Officer to ensure that vehicle documents (local and international) are valid and up to date.
- Airport pickup and transfer of project staff and related stakeholders
- Ensure courteous and prompt attention to passengers’ needs while being conveyed.
- Ensure safety of vehicle and passengers property
- Assist in office duties such as collection and recording of data, photocopying, sorting etc.
- Assist in Field works in station and on Farm sites
- Multiplication of yam using vine cutting technology and seed pollination
- General maintenance of screen house and field experiments/trials
- Perform all other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Qualification, Experience and Skills
- O'Level's certificate with Minimum of Five (5) years professional driving experience preferably with a reputable organization.
- The ideal candidate must:
- Be familiar with Nigeria and west Arica Roads.
- Computer literate.
- Have good communication skill.
- Have research field work experience
