Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Nigeria (CLIT) was founded in 1958 and operates under the Royal Charter as an International Branch (IB), (now a Territory). The National Patron of CILT, Nigeria is the Honourable Minister of Transport. The Institute is saddled with the functions of Education and Training, certification, setting standards of practice, licensing of professionals, monitoring and regulating professional practice in Nigeria, and is governed by a National Council whose membership is drawn from relevant sectors of the economy. The Institute also has a Board of Trustees, Branches spread across the country and a National Secretariat that manages its day to day affairs. In order to effectively support the profession and the industry, we have a mutually benefiting relationship with other National Councils, Local and International professional bodies, relevant statutory bodies and Ministries, including Tertiary Institutions.

Pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution of the Institute, the National Council hereby notifies the members of Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), Nigeria and the general public of the existence of a vacancy for the post of:

The Job
  • The National Executive Director (NED) is the Head of the Secretariat and Chief Administrative Officer of the Institute and a member of the Institute Council.
Among other functions, the National Executive Director shall:
  • Be competent in all finance and administrative issues of the Institute;
  • Be generally responsible to the Council for maintaining the efficiency and good order of the Institute and for ensuring the proper enforcement of the statutes, ordinances and regulations;
  • Regulate admission of members, subject to guidelines and procedures approved by the Institute Council.
  • Responsible for any other undertakings as directed by the President.
Qualities and Qualifications
The applicant for the post of the National Executive Director of CILT, Nigeria must possess the following qualities and qualification:
  • Have been a Chartered Member of the CILT for at least a minimum of ten years as at the date of this advertisement;
  • Have extensive and deep experience in all facets of administration and also capable of providing professional leadership;
  • Be a person who, judging from his/her track records, commands respect nationally in the transport and Logistics sphere as well as have a track record of consistent and inspiring leadership;
  • Be morally sound, of impeccable character and integrity, free from financial embarrassment, and enjoy excellent physical and mental health.
  • Be computer literate and have adequate administrative and research experience for a sustainable realization of the mandate and mission of the Institute;
  • Must be person who is not likely to pursue racial, ethnic, political religious or other sectional interests;
  • Be endowed with the knowledge and experience of how to raise fund to supplement the activities of the Institute;
  • Have ability to develop linkages with external communities to meet the emerging needs of the Institute;
  • Must not be older than 55 years on September 30, 2015 when the post is scheduled to be occupied.
Tenure
The National Executive Director shall be appointed for three years, in the first instance, and as directed by the Council of the Institute.

Salary and Conditions of Services
The remuneration and other conditions of service are as determined from time to time by the Council of the Institute.
