Borno Women Development Initiative (BOWDI) is a women-led, registered Non-Governmental, Non-Profit Organization with its head office located in Borno State, Nigeria. BOWDI has been active in Humanitarian and Development activities in the Northeast, especially in education, peace-building, advocacy, food security, livelihood, and protection.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Security Officer

Location: Borno
Job type: Full time

Responsibilities

  • Implement BOWDI’s Safety and Security Policies and guidelines in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa State.
  • Conduct regular security risk assessments (SRA) of BOWDI offices, Guest Houses to implement mitigation measures guided by the MOSS standards. and conduct other rapid SRA on need basis. 
  • Ensure mitigation action plan are budgeted for and implemented.
  • Conduct Safety and Security Briefing and Induction to all staff, new hired and visitors to All BOWDI new hires. 
  • Keep recorded of all briefing conducted following the informed consent guideline.
  • Supervise contracted security guards and act as liaison with the security guard company
  • management.
  • Ensure that all incidents impacting BOWDI staff, assets and programs in all areas of implementation are reported and documented.
  • Develop a staff travel tracking system in collaboration with the Logistics Team in Maiduguri Head Office.
  • Liaise with UN agencies, NGOs and other external actors for the purposes of information sharing and collaboration in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa State.
  • Collate and prepare a weekly security report of BAY States and submitting to Executive Director. This will also include conduct regular conflict and violence analysis/research in the areas of implementation and submitting findings to Executive Director.
  • Work closely with Field team to report, track and monitor access challenges, enablers and constraints.
  • Attend Safety and Security roundtable discussion as organized by INGOs, PLSO, and UN agencies and make contributions where necessary.
