Job Title: Security Personnel

Location: Sangotedo Ajah, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports To: Security Supervisor or Restaurant/Lounge Manager

Job Overview

  • The Security Personnel is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for guests, staff, and property at the restaurant and lounge.
  • This role involves monitoring entrances, patrolling the premises, preventing security breaches, and handling emergencies.
  • Security personnel must be alert, professional, and courteous while ensuring the safety of all visitors and employees.

Key Responsibilities
Access Control:

  • Monitor and control access points at the restaurant and lounge entrances to ensure only authorized individuals enter.
  • Greet guests politely and conduct checks if necessary (e.g., bag checks, ID verification) to maintain security.
  • Ensure VIP or restricted areas are accessed only by authorized personnel or guests.
  • Maintain a guest list or logbook for any special events or private functions, verifying attendees as needed.

Patrol and Monitoring:

  • Conduct regular patrols of the premises, including the dining areas, lounge, restrooms, parking lots, and any outdoor spaces.
  • Monitor security cameras and alarm systems to identify any suspicious activity or security breaches.
  • Ensure that doors, windows, and entry points are properly secured.
  • Keep an eye on crowd behavior to prevent disturbances, fights, or vandalism.

Incident Response:

  • Respond quickly and appropriately to any disturbances, conflicts, or emergency situations, including medical incidents or fire alarms.
  • Escort disorderly or intoxicated individuals off the premises in a calm and professional manner.
  • Handle any theft, property damage, or criminal activities, reporting incidents to management and local authorities when necessary.
  • Coordinate with law enforcement or emergency services during serious incidents.

Conflict Resolution:

  • Mediate and de-escalate situations between guests or staff when conflicts arise, preventing them from escalating into physical confrontations.
  • Use tact and diplomacy to resolve disputes and ensure a safe environment for all patrons.
  • Health & Safety:
  • Ensure that the premises comply with safety regulations, including fire safety, emergency exits, and crowd control limits.
  • Conduct routine checks of fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, and first aid equipment.
  • Assist in evacuations during emergencies such as fires, earthquakes, or other hazards, following established safety protocols.

Guest Assistance:

  • Provide assistance to guests by offering directions, helping with parking, or answering general inquiries about the restaurant or lounge.
  • Escort guests to and from their vehicles as needed, particularly during late-night hours.

Report Writing & Documentation:

  • Maintain detailed logs of security incidents, including descriptions of events, individuals involved, and actions taken.
  • Prepare reports for management after incidents, providing recommendations for improvements or follow-up actions.
  • Record and report any maintenance or safety hazards observed during patrols.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other security personnel, management, and staff to ensure a cohesive security strategy.
  • Communicate with bartenders, servers, and other staff to identify and address potential security issues (e.g., intoxicated guests or escalating disputes).
  • Attend regular staff meetings and training sessions to stay informed about security procedures and updates.

Loss Prevention:

  • Monitor staff and guests to prevent theft or loss of property, such as restaurant equipment, inventory, or personal belongings.
  • Report any suspicious activities related to theft or fraud to management.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a security officer or in a similar role, preferably in a restaurant, bar, or hospitality setting.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, and patrol for long periods.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally.
  • Knowledge of security and safety procedures, including crowd control, access management, and emergency response.
  • Basic first aid and CPR certification is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with local laws and regulations regarding security, safety, and hospitality.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in security or law enforcement is preferred.
  • Security guard certification or license may be required, depending on local regulations.
  • Experience in hospitality or customer service is a plus.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time or part-time position; shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • May involve prolonged periods of standing, walking, and patrolling.
  • Work may take place indoors (dining areas, bar, kitchen) and outdoors (parking lot, entrances).
  • Possible exposure to loud music or crowded environments during peak hours or events.
