We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Mechanical Technician (Heavy Duty Mechanic)

Location: Apapa, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • Inspect and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, graders, cranes, trucks and loaders
  • Repair or replace defective parts such as engines, gearboxes, pumps, and valves.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks
  • Service hydraulic systems by replacing seals, hoses, and fittings, and performing tests to ensure leak-free operation.
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety before releasing it for use.
  • Respond quickly to emergencies and minimize equipment downtime by providing on-site repairs at construction sites when equipment breaks down
  • Maintain detailed records of repairs and maintenance, including parts used, hours worked, and repair outcomes
  • Work with maintenance technicians, operators, and other team members to ensure efficient repairs and equipment turnaround
  • Supervise the work of contract mechanics and technicians involved in the maintenance of company assets, including vehicles, air conditioning units, generators, and other equipment

Requirements

  • A diploma or technical certification in Heavy Equipment Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, Diesel mechanics or a related field
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in maintaining and repairing heavy construction equipment in Nigeria
  • Experience working in remote locations or with field repair services is preferred
  • Strong technical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and transmission system of heavy-duty construction equipment
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure and meet tight deadlines, especially when conducting field repairs
  • Ability to lift and handle heavy tools, equipment parts, and machinery components.
  • Comfortable working in varied environments such as workshops, construction sites, or outdoors.
