We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Quantity Surveyor (Building Construction)

Location: Onikan, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

General Responsibilities

  • The QS will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful financial management of construction projects from inception to completion.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating project costs, preparing detailed bills of quantities, managing contracts, and monitoring project progress in terms of costs and variations.
  • The successful candidate will contribute to the overall efficiency and profitability of our construction projects.

Other duties and Responsibilities includes:

  • Undertake a full range of pre and post contract quantity surveying services including Cost management for assigned projects.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of the building construction contract agreements.
  • Champion the articulation and development of the Quantity Surveyor strategy and ensure alignment with the corporate strategies, business goals and objectives.
  • Prepare Bills of Quantities, Schedules of Works, Specifications and all contract documentation, ensuring that these comply with the project brief and timescale, budget estimates, all relevant legislation, regulations and policies.
  • Determine the extent and value of building work executed for interim payments to sub-contractors and contractors.
  • Assess and settle sub-contractor’s claims throughout the contracts.
  • Inspect site for collation of information for monthly statement, assessing cost of works and expected final costs.
  • Carry out site inspection and monitor work progress and efficient use of manpower and materials.
  • Perform cost analysis and draw up reports on changes to works and contactor’s claims.
  • Prepare reports with recommendations on new work and work in progress for project team members and supervisors so that progress can be monitored and appropriate decisions made.
  • Assess tender documents to ensure sufficient information available to prepare tender.
  • Prepare and issue sub-contract enquiries and assessment of quotations upon receipt.
  • Prepare and issue material purchase orders and assessment of quotations upon receipt
  • Complete tender documents for submission.
  • Prepare specifications and/or Contractors proposals.
  • Maintain contract documentation and advise on pre tender and post contract matters.
  • Advise on procurement strategy.
  • Carry out take offs for material procurement.
  • Manage Sub-contract negotiation and letting.
  • Prepare and submit interim, penutimate and final valuations.
  • Carry out site measurement to ascertain work progress achieve.
  • Maintain awareness of the different building contracts in use.
  • Perform and assess risk and value management and cost control.
  • Agreement and certification of sub-contractors’ interim valuations and final accounts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in building construction, with a solid understanding of construction practices and methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of quantity surveying principles, cost estimation, contracts, and relevant legislation.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in using quantity surveying software and tools for cost estimation, billing, and project management.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of relevant construction codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Professional certifications or memberships are preferred but not mandatory.
