Job Summary

  • We seek an experienced and competent individual to lead our commodities division.

Job Description

  • The Head of Commodities will be responsible for developing and executing the company's commodities strategy.
  • This role involves overseeing all activities related to the set up, procurement, trading, and management of commodities.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commodities, excellent leadership skills, and a robust network in the industry which includes but are not limited to:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive commodities strategy aligned with the company’s overall objectives.
    • Oversee the set up, procurement, trading, and sale of commodities, ensuring profitable performance.
    • Monitor market trends, pricing, and supply chain dynamics to inform strategic decisions.
    • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, traders, and other key stakeholders in the industry.
    • Lead and manage the commodities team, fostering an environment that promotes collaboration and professional development.
    • Conduct risk assessments and develop risk management strategies to mitigate market volatility.
    • Ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards related to commodity trading and management.
    • Prepare and present regular reports on market analysis, performance metrics, and strategic initiatives to senior management.
    • Collaborate with other departments to support the company’s overall business goals.
    • Identify new opportunities for growth within the commodities market.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field;
  • Proven experience (7+ years) in start up commodities trading, procurement, or supply chain management.
  • Strong understanding of the commodities market dynamics, including pricing, trading practices, and regulations.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
