Job Description
  • The Strengthening High Impact Interventions for an AIDS-free Generation (AIDSFree) Project is a five-year cooperative agreement funded by the U.S.
  • Agency for International Development under Cooperative Agreement AID-OAA-14-000001. AIDSFree is implemented by JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. with partners Abt Associates, Inc., Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, EnCompass LLC, IMA World Health, The International HIV/AIDS Alliance, Jhpiego Corporation, and PATH.
  • AIDSFree supports and advances implementation of the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief by providing capacity development and technical support to USAID missions, host-country governments, and HIV implementers at the local, regional, and national level.
  • AIDSFree is seeking an experienced Nigeria-based Social and Behavior Change Communication/ Infection Prevention and Control (SBCC/IPC) Training Advisor for its Nigeria Health Waste Management.
  • The SBCC/IPC Training Advisor will be an integral member of the AIDSFree Nigeria project management team.
  • This person will be responsible for ensuring high quality trainings and that advocacy and communication for behavior change on HCWM and infection prevention and control issues are addressed and implemented in a timely manner, applying state of the art approaches to the design of project strategies, activities, training, and materials.
  • The SBCC/IPC Training Advisor will report directly to the Chief of Party.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the review/revision of the injection safety training modules to include IPC/HCWM.
  • Lead trainings for the training consultants to prepare to cascade the training material to the lower level health workers-coordinating training activities for multiple cadres of health workers.
  • Facilitate the formation of functional IPC/HCWM Committees at all level of service delivery.
  • Work with state governments and health facilities to develop state-specific IPC Policy and HCWM guidelines with an integrated implementation plan.
  • Liaise with regulatory and pre-service training institutions and lead the process of development and integration of IPC/HCWM modules into the teaching curriculum.
  • Work with HCWM Advisor to develop short certificate course training materials for training institution.
  • Adapt/reproduce IPC IEC materials and job aids.
  • Contribute to documentation of project activities.
  • Perform any other duties as directed by the Chief of Party.
Qualifications
  • Minimum: Masters degree in Microbiology or Public Health or other relevant medical science field.
  • Previous work experience with international donor-funded programs.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal communications.
  • Ability to work harmoniously as a member of a team.
  • Ability to design training materials and lead effective trainings.
  • Very good knowledge of spoken and written English.
  • Proficient in spreadsheet and word processing and other software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Salary
Commensurate with experience.
