The Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, formerly known as the Institute of Health, was established in 1968. The institute of health which transformed to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital was established in accordance with statutes 15 of the university law (amendment act schedule 16) by the former northern Nigeria government with the objective of providing facilities for training of doctors,nursing and other medical personnel.
Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria is presently being run by a board, established by decree No. 10 of 1985 and it comprises the chief executive (chief medical director) and the following statutory officers. The Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, the Director of Administration, the Director of Finance and Supplies and the chief internal auditor.
The Management of Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position below:
Job Title: Director of Administration
Location: Zaria, Kaduna
Responsibilities
- The Director of Administration shall be responsible to the Chief Medical Director for day- to-day general administration of the Hospital.
- He shall be the Chief Administrative adviser to the Chief Medical Director and Secretary to the Board of Management.
In addition, the Director of Administration shall:
- Take charge of the department responsible for administration Participating in formulation, execution and review of policies as directed by the Chief Medical Director and/or the Board.
- Coordinating the activities of support Departments in the Hospital.
- Conduct the correspondence of the Board and keep the records of the Hospital
- Perform such other functions as the Board or the Chief Medical Director, may from time to time assign to him/her.
Qualifications and Experience
- Candidates must possess a good first degree in Humanities or Social Sciences, Hospital/Health Services Management from a recognized University.
- Candidates must have not less than twenty (20) years of post-qualification cognate experience in the administrative cadre in a government establishment.
- Candidates must not be less than a Directorate Cadre in a government establishment.
- Possession of Master's degree or any other relevant higher degrees would be an added advantage.
- Fellow or Associate of the Institute of Health Service Administrators of Nigeria (IHSAN) or any other relevant professional certificate is an added advantage.
- Candidate must be ICT compliant.
- Working experience in a hospital is an added advantage.
Salary and Condition of Service
- Salary and conditions of service shall be in accordance with the Public Service salary structure for this category of officers.
Tenure
- The Director of Administration shall hold office effective from the date of appointment inclusive of any period previously served as a Director in any Organisation in the Public Service, provided the officer does not attain the mandatory retirement age of sixty (60) years or thirty five (35) years of service (whichever comes first) and on such terms and conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointment.
