The Edo State Migration Agency; formal Edo State Taskforce Against Human Trafficking (ETHAT) is established by the Edo State Migration Law to addressing migration-related issues within the state. With a broader mandate, the Agency is tasked to managing migration, protect human rights, combat trafficking in person, facilitate the reintegration of returning migrants and foster sustainable development through effective migration policies.

The agency collaborates with relevant stakeholders to promote a safe and supportive environment for potential and returning migrants.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Research and Policy Officer

Location: Edo

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on migration trends, human trafficking, and related topics. Gather and analyze relevant data and statistics to inform policy development and
  • decision-making.
  • Prepare reports, briefs, and presentations based on research findings for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor and analyze legislative and policy developments related to migration and trafficking.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment of research findings with organizational goals.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and strategies to address migration challenges.
  • Stay updated on emerging issues and best practices in migration policy and research.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and conferences related to migration and policy development.
  • Support in drafting policy documents, proposals, and advocacy materials.

Education and Experience (Essential)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Public Policy, or a related field (preferred). A related higher degree will be an advantage
  • Previous experience in conducting research and policy analysis in the field of migration or human rights.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex data and statistics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in report writing. Proficiency in data analysis software and statistical tools.
  • Knowledge of migration issues, international law, and human rights frameworks. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Adaptability and willingness to learn new concepts and methodologies.
