Job Summary
- We are seeking a detail-oriented Safety Officer to join our team in Abuja.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all safety regulations and procedures are strictly followed on-site.
- You will implement safety policies, conduct safety inspections, and foster a culture of safety within the organization.
- This role is critical to maintaining a safe work environment and reducing risks of accidents and injuries.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the workplace to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with local safety laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Train employees on safety protocols, proper equipment usage, and emergency response procedures.
- Investigate and report accidents, injuries, and near-misses, providing detailed analysis and corrective action plans.
- Maintain and update safety documentation, including risk assessments, incident reports, and training records.
- Collaborate with management to promote a culture of safety and ensure a safe working environment.
- Conduct safety drills, including fire drills and emergency evacuation exercises.
- Monitor and maintain safety equipment, ensuring it is up to date and in proper working condition.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety officer role, preferably in construction, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, health and safety standards, and compliance practices.
- Relevant safety certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or OSHA are required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and educate employees.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify safety risks and implement effective solutions.
- Ability to work under pressure and in fast-paced environments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting and documentation.
Preferred Certification:
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is an added advantage.
