Purpose of the position
- The Research Manager will lead the development, management, and execution of diverse research projects and business initiatives.
- In this role, you will develop innovative frameworks, policies, and strategies to ensure our research efforts align with emerging priorities, client needs, and business opportunities.
- You will also drive partnerships with local and international research institutions, while ensuring that our research findings lead to real-world health improvements.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Management & Business Development:
- Lead the critical assessment of research frameworks and develop innovative policies to enhance the relevance of the research program.
- Identify and pursue grant opportunities, oversee proposal development, and collaborate with the Chief Innovation Officer to secure funding.
- Manage a multidisciplinary team of project managers, researchers, and clinical staff, ensuring successful project execution and high-quality research outputs.
- Foster collaboration with local and international researchers and institutions, and lead outreach efforts to generate new partnerships and business opportunities.
Research Design & Implementation:
- Lead the design and implementation of complex research projects, ensuring methodological rigor and alignment with organizational goals.
- Oversee data collection processes, ensuring adherence to ethical standards and established protocols.
- Conduct advanced data analysis, prepare comprehensive reports, and present findings to both internal and external stakeholders.
Strategic Planning & Business Growth:
- Contribute to the strategic planning and expansion of the research and business development agenda, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Lead the development and deployment of strategies to address emerging business needs and client demands.
- Represent the organization at academic and professional forums to enhance the research profile and identify new business development opportunities.
Collaboration & Engagement:
- Build and maintain networks with research institutions across Nigeria and internationally.
- Actively collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless communication and project alignment.
- Promote the visibility of research efforts through targeted communications, including social media posts and professional outreach.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Monitor research projects to ensure they meet deliverables, deadlines, and quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with research protocols, ethical standards, and organizational policies.
- Establish stringent quality metrics for research services and deliverables, fostering continuous improvement.
Mentorship & Team Development:
- Provide technical assistance and mentorship to junior researchers, fostering skill development and capacity building.
- Support the Research & Learning team with training, development, and the implementation of standardized protocols.
Qualifications & Skills
- PhD in public health, life sciences, or a related field (minimum requirement).
- A minimum of 5 years experience in project management, with at least 2 years in a leadership or program management role within an international organization.
- Proficiency in research design, data analysis, and scientific writing.
- Strong computer skills, including Google Suite, with proficiency in documentation and data management tools.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time for project oversight and collaboration.
- Experience in business development and securing research funding is an advantage.
