Job Title: Mechanical Engineer (Building Construction)

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • We're seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our building construction team in Abuja. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and oversee the installation and maintenance of mechanical systems for commercial and residential buildings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical systems, including:
  • Plumbing and piping (water supply, drainage, fire protection)
  • HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning)
  • Elevators and lifts
  • Fire suppression systems
  • Building management systems (BMS)
  • Conduct site inspections and provide recommendations for system improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and industry standards (NBC, NIS).
  • Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and contractors.
  • Analyze project requirements and provide cost-effective solutions.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation.
  • Supervise installation processes and resolve technical issues.
  • Conduct testing and commissioning of mechanical systems.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Above 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering for building construction.

Experience in:

  • Plumbing and piping design and installation
  • HVAC system design and installation
  • Elevator and lift installation and maintenance
  • Fire suppression system design and installation
  • Building management system (BMS) integration
  • Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) and building information modeling (BIM).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, building codes, and engineering principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Certifications:

  • COREN certification or equivalent.
  • LEED AP or Green Building certification.
  • Experience with project management tools (Asana, Trello, MS Project).
